About

DeAndre

Hicks

"Are you the One?"

DeAndre Tyrel Hicks was born in Denver, Colorado in September 2003 but soon therefore in August 2004, the family moved to Topeka, Kansas as his father, Rev. TD Hicks was called to pastor Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He is the oldest of two children (younger sister – Tracee Danyelle) to parents, Pastor TD & Joan Hicks.

His speaking and preaching prowess started early on when he accepted the call to preach the gospel at age 8! While in the 5th grade, DeAndre gave a speech during a Black History Month program at Scott Dual Language Magnet School in which the former school district superintendent was in attendance. She then asked him to recite this speech to the entire school board at their next bi-weekly meeting. That’s how it all began! Since then, DeAndre had been chosen as the student speaker for the USD 501 Topeka Public Schools Back to School Convocation (7th -12th grades except for his freshman year). This event held each August welcomes all staff totaling almost 2,000 adults – ranging from support personnel such as janitors and bus drivers to educators and administration – back for another school year. His uplifting messages centered around “Are you the One?” were well received locally and nationally.

Currently, DeAndre attends Langston University, Oklahoma’s first and only historically black university where he served as The 40th Mr. Langston University for the 2024-2025 school year. After completing his undergraduate studies next year, he plans to get his Master’s degree in Divinity then pursue his doctorate. He is a Spring 2024 initiate of the Beta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. DeAndre is a dynamic preacher and teacher of the word of God and has been chosen by God for such a time as this.
